What we do
Cedar Park After School and Holiday Play Scheme is run only for children at Stoke Bishop Primary School.
The play scheme is a happy, secure and stimulating place that leaves you without the day-to-day problems of after school or holiday childcare. An extra bonus is that your child gets to know children throughout the school.
During term time
We will collect your child from school and escort them to the play scheme building which is on the school playing field (behind the croquet club).
We offer a drink and toast/fruit, but if you decide that a little more is needed then you can provide a snack or packed meal.
Supervised activities include:
- Arts and crafts
- Organised games (indoor and out)
- Occasional cookery
- We also have a ‘chill-out’ room
During school holidays
You deliver your child to play scheme. We put on a programme of activities with something different to try every day. We even plan a trip to a local park or a nature walk (weather permitting).
We do not provide lunch or snacks, so you are free to give your child whichever packed lunch and snacks you/they wish.
The cost per child is £9.00 per day after school. During school holidays/INSET days, the cost is £25.50 per child per day.
We would encourage you to have someone who can step in to pick up your child if you are likely to be delayed beyond 6:00pm, as there is a fine of £1 for every minute late, beyond this time.
If you need to cancel an afterschool session, we will need two weeks notices, otherwise you will still be charged the full rate. During the holidays, there is no cancellation time; bookings will need to be payed for even if children do not attend. This is to cover all staff costs that are pre-booked.
To cancel a place permanently, please provide four weeks notice in writing.
If your child is sick and will not be attending play scheme, please inform us before the end of the school day. You will still be charged for that day.
Who runs the play scheme?
Paid workers run the play scheme on a day-to-day basis. These workers are carefully chosen to provide a happy, stimulating and caring environment for your children.
A voluntary management committee oversees and administers the scheme. It is made up of parents who have children at the school.
We would encourage you to volunteer to join the committee. It is not onerous and, without it, play scheme couldn’t exist!
