PE in Year 1 is every Wednesday afternoon the children will get changed into their PE kits after lunch so they need to stay in school on their pegs. Outdoor PE is Thursday afternoons.

The children need shorts, t-shirt and PE shoes – all named and the correct colours.

The children will have a specific day each week when their reading books are changed. Please ask if you are unsure which day your child changes their books. They will be given 2 books to read to you and 1 sharing book for you to read together.

There is additional guidance on reading with your child on the Home Learning section of the Year 1 page.

The children’s Monkey Books will be checked each week to ensure that they are reading at least 5 times. We have a reward chart for the children who read at least 5 times at home.

If you think that your child is reading their books confidently and are understanding what they are reading please let us know so that we can assess them before moving them to the next book band. Additional information about the book bands can be found on the English section of the website
