Sustainability

Sustainability is an important part of our ethos at Stoke Bishop C of E Primary School. We believe in integrating eco-friendly practices into the school’s operations, culture and curriculum to reduce its environmental impact. It involves activities like waste management, energy conservation and educating children about environmental responsibility to lower the school’s carbon footprint, save costs and create a healthier learning environment for all.

Our SBPS Climate Action Plan outlines the key areas of focus for our development for sustainability.

1. Decarbonisation and Energy Efficiency

2. Climate adaptation and resilience

3. Biodiversity and Green Infrastructure

4. Climate Education, Green Skills and Green Careers

Creating Space for Bumblebees

Our year 6 children talked about the importance of protecting habitats that help bumblebees thrive. They have created a ‘flower corridor’ in their classes just before going out and sowing wild flowers.

We sowed wild flowers all along our KS2 playground in an area where the children are not allowed to walk. This will help the flowers grow.

In our polytunnel, we are preparing the soil of our planters. What are we going to grow this year?
